Your Council continues to be very busy, as with all businesses Covid certainly has brought unique challenges that look to be with us for a long time yet. I really feel for all living in Auckland the restraint of trade across numerous businesses is significant and I only hope that very soon they get back to being able to trade and soon.

For council we have been having Zoom meetings and have just started collective meetings yet being at 2 meter spacing and with all wearing masks.

Topical at present is the representation review which you can have your say via visiting the GDC web site if you would like to contribute to this wide discussion. There is also a hard copy printed questionnaire to fill out if you prefer to contribute this way. The questionnaire can be collected from the GDC reception desk.

I voted for the option of one region wide ward system e.g. for both the General and Maori roll. This is the position of the majority of your councillors and how they voted. Note that his was purely an indication or position of your current council however please do make the time to put your thoughts down on this subject and get them into council asap.

The council recommendation re numbers is to stick with 13 eight general seats and 5 Maori seats.

It’s great to see the progress going on down at Midway beach with the start of our new Kiwa Pool complex along with Midway surf club about to start their new building. Both are going to be beautiful buildings for our community to enjoy.

Other recent agenda items have included updates regarding the Waingke Transformation program, Uawa –Hikuwai catchment Scientific Bore drilling and further information re the Awapuni Stadium to Waipaoa Cycle trails state of play at this time.

Council has commenced a major review of and is in the process of its “Procurement” of all maintenance and infrastructure service contracts. This is a massive process and will ultimately decide how e.g. all Roading will be managed for the next 5-7 years.

Until my next catch up keep safe.
