In 1969 - Canadian High Commissioner, Mr. R.M. MacDonnell, handed over Canada's Gift to New Zealand to mark the bicentetary year. The Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Keith Holyoake, officially accepted the handsomely carved Totem pole which stands alongside the Gisborne i-SITE.
