Aroha nui, staff at the Arohaina Centre.
The Arohaina Centre is a day centre providing fellowship and friendship for older people, and has operated in Gisborne since 1981.
Our primary goal is to ensure that older people living in the community feel connected to those around them so that they continue to live independently and lead fulfilling lives.
Arohaina supports the elderly in our community by encouraging physical, mental, social, and spiritual health so they can maintain their independence for longer.
We are open four days a week, providing a warm, friendly environment, and a range of activities and services tailored for older people, including:
* arts and crafts
* guest speakers
* nutritional meals
* a listening ear
Our friendly staff are available for advice and support. We can book the local Sunshine Bus to transport those who are unable to drive, or prefer not to.
We provide time out for carers and families, who can rest in the knowledge that they can leave their loved one with us for the day in an enjoyable, safe, and caring environment.
There is no joining fee but there is a charge for attending the daily programmes and using the transport.
