My passions are Netball, Kapa Haka, drama and dance. I joined this DFLE kaupapa because Life Education Trust Inc. Gisborne, East Coast and Wairoa is a great resource to have in Tairawhiti and there are many learning opportunities that our tamariki have access to. Harold the Giraffe has made an impact with many of our lives growing up in school. I strongly support this legacy to continue for our future.
Mindfulness Primary Teacher and Artist, Maiko Lewis-Whaanga has lived in Tairawhiti-Gisborne for over 40 years.
She has always loved to move and her name actually means Dancing Child, but has never had any professional training.
When she was asked to be a part of dancing for Life Education Trust Inc. Gisborne, East Coast and Wairoa she was excited for the challenge and to support such a great cause, as not only would it mean she could learn a new dance, but she has seen the value and impact Harold and Life Education has had on tamariki in her classroom.
